Magazine’s ‘voyage’ begins

By

OCA, with Seafarer Asia’s maiden issue.

MARISSA Oca is now going into publishing via Seafarer Asia, a glossy magazine that features seafarers’ exciting stories (like “Tales from the Sea,” about seamen held captive by pirates), health issues, safety tips, and coming-home recollections. The current issue features Willie Revillame and his yachts, as well as sports updates, edited by Bill Velasco.

Marissa believes that “seafarers’ lives are the epitome of hard work, perseverance and commitment. Their families are their support system, helping them take stock of who they are, where they began, and how far they can go.”

The magazine mirrors Marissa’s heart and the journey she wishes to take, being the daughter of a seaman, Capt. Gregorio Oca, who put up the Associated Marine Officers and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (Amosup).

Seafarer Asia offers a venue for the people in the maritime community to get to know one another better. To subscribe, e-mail subscription@seafarerasia.net, or call 526-1013.
