Philippine Daily Inquirer
Filipino indie filmmaker Khavn de la Cruz will work with acclaimed cinematographer Christopher Doyle in his latest full-length feature, “Ruined Heart.”
“We have a really good team on board, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll come up with,” said De la Cruz. “The next few months should be interesting.”
Stephen Holl, chief executive officer of the film’s German co-producer Rapid Eye Movies, related: “Chris [Doyle] is very excited and he came on board when we needed him.”
Doyle is credited for the cinematography for Zhang Yimou’s “Hero,” Gus Van Sant’s “Psycho,” M. Night Shyamalan’s “Lady in the Water” and Wong Kar-wai’s “In the Mood for Love,” among others.
“Ruined Heart” is the long version of De la Cruz’s “Pusong Wazak,” an entry in the short film competition of this year’s Berlinale. It is also included in this year’s Paris Project pitching program.
“‘Ruined’ is Khavn’s most ambitious film to date. It will take him to another level,” said Vanja Kaludjercic, head of the Paris Project. Bayani San Diego Jr.
