MANILA, Philippines—The Office of the Solicitor-General gave a go signal for the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to proceed with the selection process for the National Artist.
Recently, there was a growing clamor to confer the National Artist Award to the late Comedy King Rodolfo V. Quizon, popularly known as Dolphy.
The OSG gave the green light to the NCCA to proceed with the screening process as it noted that what was stopped by the Supreme Court in 2009 was the conferment of the order of the National Artist Award.
The Supreme Court stopped the Malacañang from conferring the order of National Artist award to director Carlo Caparas and several others in 2009.
