Ogie Alcasid is all revved up for apl.de.ap’s concert for Pinoys at Hollywood Bowl.

“Martin Nievera, Vanessa Hudgens and I will do the OPM part,” Ogie gushes. “Apl and the Black Eyed Peas will do the finale with Nicole Sheri.”

Pinoy Pride! They sure wear and sing it well.

Preggy Lara

Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman is now officially Mrs. Marco Alcaraz.

Lara, who married Marco on Sunday, is due to give birth to their baby boy, whom they are naming Noah, in November.

Last year, on Jan. 1, they wed in civil rites in Canada. They just had to do the big Christian wedding in Manila for their folks and friends here.

“Noah’s arrival is the best early Christmas gift,” beams Lara. “Si Marco ang pinaglilihian ko. I don’t let him out of my sight. He wants me to give birth abroad but I’d rather do it here because our hospital care is different.”

The guests at their nuptials were moved when Marco kissed Lara’s tummy. The bride and groom shed happy tears as they exchanged vows.

Congrats! Couples like Lara and Marco  make me believe in marriage again.

Maternity leave

Amy Perez is on maternity leave from her top-rating TV5 show, “Face to Face.” Gelli de Belen will pinch-hit for her as Pambansang Kapitana until Amy gives birth.

“All that fighting on the show is so stressful, so my doctor advised me to take a break,” Amy explains.

How did her sons Adi and Kyle react to the news of a new sibling? “Adi’s super-excited. He broke the news to the family,” Amy recounts. “Carlo (her partner) and I still have to talk to Kyle.”

The “Face to Face” queen has gone through many phases in the name of love. Her heart has finally found its home for better or for worse—and for keeps.

the show spearheaded by apl.de.ap at hollywood bowl last sunday was a success; tho the bowl was filled about 95% only, the reaction of everybody who was there was that of glad acceptance and pride in celebrating the global filipino music heritage; lou diamond and vanessa were great emcees and so was jo koy, who really made everybody guffaw at his take on pinoys based in america, he made me laugh (mahirap akong patawanin pero nakaya niya) with abandon and recklessly; kuwela siya, fresh talent. the tinikling was superb; and dessa, who once again gave goose pimples to almost everyone with her super birit prowess; martin seems to have difficulty now htting those high notes of his mor epopular songs while ogie should have sung nandito ako, that coul dhave elicited a stronger audience response; and of course, the black eyed peas brought the house down with their great performance and spiels, boosted by the wonderful singing and dancing of nicole shceringer (does she really have filipino blood?), of the pussycat fame.
my $20 was well worth it.
perhaps the tourism dept could dovetail with apl.de.ap and the black-eyed peas to promote the “it;s more fun in the philippines campaign of the Pnoy government. the LA consulate top honcha was there; perhaps she could start the ball rolling in all major cities of the world. if they do this now, the fruits will be felt and realized in the next two years or so.
