How news of Dolphy’s death broke out

MANILA, Philippines – The news first broke on Twitter when stars–including Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto and Vice Ganda, posted tweets of condolences for the Quizon family.

At 9 p.m. on ABS-CBN, Dolphy’s partner Zsa Zsa Padilla confirmed his passing.

The exact hour of death was initially reported as 8:42 p.m. On Monday night, he had another dialysis; earlier Tuesday, a blood transfusion.

When Inquirer called MMC at 9 p.m., we were told, “We are awaiting word from the family.”

Padilla and some of Dolphy’s children, including Epy and Ronnie Quizon, were said to be at his side.

Family spokesperson Eric Quizon rushed back from Dinalupihan, Bataan, where he was working on TV5 series “Enchanted Garden.”

Dolphy’s remains will be brought to Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig. He would have turned 84 on July 25.

    wrong news, he died 8:42pm monday, then he had dialysis tuesady… too excited too report thats why the ouput is confusing and misleading…

      There is nothing wrong in the report. You read it wrong.  The first line tells of the time when he died Tuesday night.  Notice the period after 8:42 pm.?

    The news is really disgusting.
    The latest I heard about Dolphy was that he was doing well.
    No more pneumonia, improving after dialysis, opened eyes, smiled etc etc. wanted to go home.
    And even the doctor was telling us that he was getting well.
    Now, Dolphy is dead.

    Why lie and not tell the truth. There is no harm in telling the truth.
    But I know Dolphy will not last long and it was a matter of time. And there he was gone.

    Many laughed and many will cry.
    RIP, SLN Dolphy.

    Ruffa et al has no business tweeting his death. They were not family members and therefore has no right to do so. It should have been done by any of the family members only. Laos na kasi (si Ruffa) kaya gustong mapansin.
