Uge’s advice to aspiring actors: Don’t say no

/ 06:01 PM March 19, 2012

I had a delightful time chatting with Eugene Domingo. She sounded like a cute little kid when she told me, “Akala ko galit ka sa akin kasi I keep sending you messages on Facebook pero deadma lang. Isip nga ako nang isip kung may nagawa ako sa ’yo na ’di maganda.”

I couldn’t stop laughing and said, “Sorry! I thought it was an impostor because of the coded name. Ikaw pala talaga yun!”

Since her hit movie “Kimidora” is one of my all-time faves, I can hardly wait to watch its sequel. What made Uge decide finally to make a Part 2, because for the longest time she was hesitant to do one? “We waited for the right time,” she explained. “Hindi yung hilaw na agad-agad may sequel. We let things simmer. Part 2 has a horror component; it is not just comedy. It was freezing cold in Korea when we shot there but I still had to be in character.”

Uge is also busy with a musical, “I Do Bidoo Bidoo” — a la “Mamma Mia!” with Apo Hiking Society’s classic hits. “I’m taking voice lessons,” she said. “Ayokong mapahiya sa costars ko na sina Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gary V and Ogie Alcasid.”

FEATURED STORIES

Is it true that she and Ogie will have some romantic scenes? “’Di naman bed scene. Baka sa floor lang, kasi ’di kami aabot sa bed,” she said in jest. “Baka ikaselos ni Regine. ’Wag na lang siya manuod.”

Does Uge see herself growing old in show biz, or does she plan to work behind the scenes? “I see myself rich,” she said, laughing. “Wealthy enough for me to have the best options. Harvest time — so I can also help others.”

Her advice to aspiring actors? “Don’t say no. Say yes to everything,” she quipped. “’Dun mo makikita kung saan ka talaga. ’Wag ka matakot. ’Wag ka magmadali but don’t stop.” Spoken like the unstoppable comedienne nonpareil that she truly is!

Only two bottles

After rehab, is Baron Geisler back to his old ways? He was spotted drinking in a QC nightspot recently.

“I was with my brother Donnie and we were celebrating,” he explains. “I just had two bottles and went straight home. I jogged the next day. My manager and I had a serious talk. Okay lang daw ang responsible drinking. I will never get drunk again and do foolish things. I know it’s hard for people to believe me. May stigma na. I’m only human. Deep down inside, I have self-control now. I know my limits. I hope the public will give me a fair chance.”

Baron can still keep his chin up without necessarily going, ‘Bottoms up!’ As a drinker myself, I always say that it’s okay to consume alcohol, but don’t let alcohol consume you.

Mincing no words

I cornered Tita Nena (Amalia Fuentes) and asked how she feels that her ex, Joey Stevens, suffered a stroke. She minced no words: “I warned him about the adverse effects of Viagra, like blindness and stroke. Too bad he didn’t listen. I’m sorry that I can no longer pity him. I will pray that he is ready for the inevitable Judgment Day when it comes.”
