Bad weather messes up El Nido shoot

Some of the scenes in the spy thriller “The Bourne Legacy” filmed in Palawan had to be shot again because of poor lighting as a result of inclement weather last weekend, according to local producer Jun Juban.
“The director (Tony Gilroy) wasn’t happy about the rushes,” Juban, who runs the Philippine Film Studios Inc. (PFSI) told Inquirer.
“Some shots were too dark. A team has flown to El Nido island to re-shoot and to film additional scenes. We hope for sunny weather in the coming days.”
American producer Frank Marshall earlier said 25 percent of the movie would be shot in the Philippines. Filming began on Jan. 11 at the San Andres Public Market in Manila. Other locations were the Navotas fish port, Marikina public market, Jones Bridge, Nagtahan Bridge, Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Ayala Avenue and Pasay-Taft Rotonda.
“We are all tired and eager to finish,” Juban said. “We have just one more difficult shoot on Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard; the rest will be easy.” These are expected to be done by February 25.
Juban was pleased with the support that “Bourne” received from concerned government units. Filming was “generally OK,” he said, although at the Navotas fish port, “we lost some cables, nothing major.”
“The Bourne Legacy,” a Universal Pictures production, premieres in the United States on Aug. 3. The cast is led by Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Joan Allen and Albert Finney.
