Martin: With Sharon, no stolen kisses

When news broke that President Aquino was dating Grace Lee, a funny thought hit me. Maybe P-Noy’s motto these days goes, “It’s more fun with a Korean!”

Sharon Cuneta and Martin Nievera join forces for the first time in the ultimate Valentine event, “Once In A Lifetime,” on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Big Dome. Among the highlights of the concert will be their duet on “Once In A Lifetime,” a song composed for the occasion by Vehnee Saturno with lyrics written by Martin. Sharon and Martin will also perform many of their hits, plus songs that fans have been longing to hear them sing together. (Call 911-5555 or 687-7236.)

What’s the difference between performing with Mega and performing with ex-wife Pops Fernandez? “Working with Sha is awesome,” Mart gushes. “But with Pops, the teamwork is automatic and second nature to me. The thrill may be the same but there is a unique magic when Pops and I share the same stage. Another big difference is, with Sharon, there are no stolen kisses between the scaffolding.”

What’s his fave love song of all time? “Unchained Melody,” Martin says. “It’s so haunting.” How does Mart view love at this point in his life? “Love is a dream. It’s a vacation,” he muses. “It’s a journey and a happy place all in one.”

What’s the craziest thing he has done for love? “To fall for it,” he says, “and everything that comes with the package.”

Like every romantic Pinoy, the Concert King has gone to hell and back in the name of love. Let his love songs with Sharon take us a little closer to paradise.

Looks like David Archuleta won’t be able to record the English version of Aaron Paul’s hit composition, “Nandito Ako.” David’s rendition of the original Tagalog version is quite endearing. Before flying to Singapore, Archie had such a frenzied schedule, so he didn’t have enough time for recording. Too bad; it would have been a breakthrough for an American Idol to sing the English version of a Pinoy classic which could be a big hit on foreign shores. Hopefully, he can still do it someday soon.

Remember my scoop about a Pinoy agent who duped concert producers in Dubai by running away with the downpayment for Charice—so her show in the UAE didn’t push through? Finally, Charice is set to perform in the City of Gold on March 2, for her Infinity Tour. This time around, the producers are dealing directly with the office of Oprah Winfrey. My Dubai-based friend said the swindler has promised to return the money by bringing Arnel Pineda to perform there for the same amount he stole. Arnel’s camp had better be wary. A massive manhunt is ongoing to track him down. Pay or pray, dude!

Catch GMA 7’s fiery drama series, “Broken Vow” (after “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin,” weekdays on Afternoon Prime), top-billed by Bianca King, Gabby Eigenmann, Luis Alandy and Rochelle Pangilinan. Bianca portrays a probinsyana about to marry her longtime sweetheart. Gabby plays a budding politician destined to marry the woman of his dreams. Luis plays the guy who helps Bianca’s character survive a horrific ordeal and Rochelle is cast as the scorned ex-GF of Gabby’s character. It’s all about love, treachery, sacrifice and vengeance. All in time for Cupid’s coming!
