Vickie Rushton’s ‘answered prayer’: First meeting with father’s family in UK
It turns out that Vickie Rushton’s visit to the United Kingdom was more than just a vacation with boyfriend Jason Abalos.
The Bb. Pilipinas 2018 1st runner-up was there to attend family matters—particularly to meet her father’s family.

The Bacolod beauty shared pictures of her meeting her father Eric Rushton and relatives in Coventry, a city in central England.
“This is an answered prayer,” she said of the encounter. “After 26 years, I finally met my family on my father’s side. My heart was overwhelmed and I just can’t explain what I felt when I saw my brother went out the door with arms wide open.”
“I was speechless. I was shaking. I felt like crying and jumping at the same time,” she recounted.
Accompanying her was Abalos, whom she thanked for joining her.
Rushton has had a difficult relationship with her father who left her and her family when she was still in second grade. She admitted on “Pinoy Big Brother: All In” that her father had written to her when she was in fourth year high school explaining why he left, but that she couldn’t bear to finish the 18-page letter.
During one episode in the reality show, her father came to visit and expressed that he loved her. He explained that he had to leave for England because he had to work, but that he felt regret because the separation wounded Rushton.
“For now I have to wait again till my next visit,” said the beauty queen on seeing her family in Britain again. “If this is how it feels after a long wait, I don’t mind waiting at all.” /ra
