Suzy labeled as ‘Taylor Swift of South Korea’ after breakup with Lee Dong-wook

When popular couples part ways, fans expressing their opinions on the news is inevitable. This was the case for Suzy and Lee Dong-wook, who shocked their admirers when their managements announced today, June 2, that they have broken up after four months of dating.
Some netizens are accusing Suzy of being a “serial-dater,” even going as far as to labeling the K-pop star as the “Taylor Swift of Hallyu (Korean wave) and South Korea” on Twitter, after K-pop website Soompi broke the news. Taylor Swift had been criticized in the past for her “long list of ex-lovers,” with some netizens openly slut-shaming the award-winning singer.
As for Suzy, some followers indeed seem to be harboring resentment. One netizen, @leesa_twt, echoed the criticisms by saying in a Twitter post, “Taylor Swift of Hallyu or what?”

But Suzy’s fans were quick to defend her. One fan, #DanceTheNightAway (@kindubu) stated that Suzy being likened to Taylor Swift is not bad, as the American pop star is at the top of the music industry: “If she’s the Taylor Swift of South Korea, well soon she’ll be touring a stadium tour, selling platinums and platinums of songs and albums, have 10 Grammys and become one of the best female [artists] in the world. It ain’t that bad.”

Prior to dating Lee Dong-wook, Suzy dated actor Lee Min-ho for two-and-a-half years, from 2015 to 2017. The two cited unspecified personal reasons as the cause of their break-up, although it was speculated that Min-ho’s mandatory military public service may be the reason.
Netizens are asking who will Suzy’s next “victim” be. Moreover, because both her ex-boyfriends have the same surname “Lee,” netizens were asking who is the next “Lee” Suzy will date. One netizen, VIPCarat (@sarcxmpmo), even called the K-pop star a “Lee taker.”

Suzy and Lee Dong-wook publicly admitted their relationship in March. Lee Dong-wook will star in the JBTC medical drama “Life” which is slated to air this July, while Suzy will star alongside Lee Seung-gi for the upcoming drama “Vagabond”. JB
