No influential backer? No problem. Megan Young says that while stardom can still prove elusive to show biz hopefuls, it’s no longer out of reach for the driven and the truly talented. This she said when we asked her if she thought the talent search route was still the best way for actor wannabes to get noticed.

The former Miss World winner, who began her ascent to stardom after placing third behind Ryza Cenon and LJ Reyes in the second season of “StarStruck,” said that joining reality shows is no longer the only way to get your foot in
Tinseltown’s door.

“When I started, joining talent searches was a great starting point—and it still is,” Megan said. “But there are other ways to get people to notice you nowadays, especially with the popularity
and accessibility of YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms.

Dati, the options were limited. Napakahirap kung wala kang connection or if you come from the province, like me. But times have changed, so kahit ano, subukan mo if you’re really into it. And if you truly deserve it, you’ll get far.” —RITO ASILO
