After nearly 20 years, Michael de Mesa wins battle vs. Hepatitis-C

Seasoned actor Michael de Mesa has finally won against Hepatitis-C, the disease that he has battled for years.

In a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday, which happens to be his 58th birthday, the actor opened up about having Hepatitis-C virus which he he discovered he had way back in 1999.

The virus is now gone and he is completely cured. He also posted a photo of his test results  which indicated: “No detectable levels of HCV-RNA.”

Just want to share something with all of you. . Most of you know that I found out I had the Hepatitis C virus back in 1999. Long story short, after 2 decades, I am CURED of my Hepatitis C!!! It is gone! Praise God! . My family and close friends have known since December. I started the treatment in November and completed it in February. . How? My wife, @julie_eigenmann , never really stopped searching for the cure. Four years ago, the cure for Hep C was released but it was outrageously expensive! The Harvoni pill costs $1,000/pill. It’s a 12-week treatment amounting to around $90,000+. Crazy, right? Luckily, Julie was able to find a generic version from India which was just $1,000 for the WHOLE 12-week treatment already! So we got in touch with this Australian who helps people with Hep C. He is the head of the “Hep C buyers club”, so to speak. He also had the virus but was cured 3 years ago and he has helped so many people around the world. . Before treatment, My viral count was in the millions. 35 Million to be exact! After just 4 weeks into the treatment, my viral count went down to 1,200! Anything below 2,000 is actually considered undetected already. By the end of the treatment, it was zero, zilch, nada, UNDETECTED! Got retested this week after 3 months post treatment just for good measure, and it’s still undetected. .
