JASMINE Curtis-Smith always dresses her age—here in a floral dress from Bayo, tan flats from Suzie Mas and bag from Longchamp.

Jasmine Curtis-Smith considers her sister, actress-TV host Anne Curtis, her biggest influence in fashion.

“The best tip I got from Ate is to always dress my age,” the show biz neophyte tells Living Stars. “She also told me that if I wanted to play safe, go for black.”

Jasmine, 17, confesses she wasn’t always comfortable with Anne’s suggestions about dressing up for parties or events. “I tell her what I want and we compromise. She’s nine years older; I still don’t have that sense of style that she has.”

FEATURED STORIES

Born in Australia, Jasmine is the second of three children of Filipina Carmen Ojales and Australian James Curtis-Smith. She came to Manila when she was 2 and, at 9 years old, she went back to Melbourne to study. In 2011, she signed up with TV5 and has appeared in the drama series “Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum,” opposite JC de Vera.

“Ate is very original,” says Jasmine. She doesn’t copy anyone—or she puts her own twist to a look. She can wear something super simple and still look very fashionable.”

THIS mini-dress from Top Shop used to be her sister’s.

Jasmine herself is very laid-back. “I like wearing loose shirts and shorts.”

Clothes

I wore the floral (Forever 21) dress to my first press con for TV5. I didn’t want to use it at first—it’s not my style—but my sister prevailed. It turned out nice in photos and videos.

SHORTS are a staple in her wardrobe.

At 17, I have a hard time looking for age-appropriate outfits. I like the gray polka-dotted jumpsuit that I haven’t worn. It’s young-looking, comfortable, doesn’t show too much skin, and it’s made from good materials. It’s from a boutique in Australia.

Ate made me wear the green dress from Top Shop to a despedida party. I didn’t want to go because it was late and I was sleepy. But I ended up having a good time and met a lot of people that I now consider friends.

Pink is not my favorite color but I like my dress from Forever 21 because it’s eye-catching, cute and very young.

Shorts are staples in my wardrobe. I wear them whenever I can, especially here in Manila where it’s so hot. I match them with very loose tops from Bayo that I like because I’m free to move around.

Accessories

I like rings with animal designs, like my snake ring and turtle ring. I also have a bull ring with the horns sticking out. I love rings, in general. I buy every single one that catches my attention.

When it comes to necklaces, I’m more careful. The necklace is the first thing that people see when they look at you because it’s near your face. I take my time buying one. I go back for it if I really like it.

Bracelets or bangles with prints or carvings have an immediate effect on your outfit. I usually just borrow my sister’s since she has a lot; I buy mine the way I buy my necklaces.

THE TEENER likes this polka-dotted jumpsuit because it’s age-appropriate.

Gadgets

I like my Blackberry Bold 9700; all my friends and family in the Philippines have it. My relatives in Spain and England have it, too.

I have most of my music in my iPod Touch. It’s a gift from my manager, Betchay Vidanes.

My iPad I won for helping in an annual charity fund-raiser in school. A prize goes to the person who raises the biggest amount—I solicited as much money as I could and donated some of my own savings. I got the iPad engraved with the name of the school and the event.

My sister gave me her digital SLR camera when I lost mine in Australia. It has only the basic lens features. I use it to document everyday activities. If I have a press con or a photo-shoot, I take behind-the-scene shots. I also use it in school for our Studio Art subject.

I got my Cherry Mobile Cosmo in August 2011. I’m its newest endorser. It’s so cool.

THIS bottle of Chanel Chance is a gift from a fan.

Scent

Chance by Chanel was a gift from a fan. I wanted to buy for myself, but I bought a bottle for my mom first, because it’s kind of pricey. I was thrilled to receive this.

My favorite high-heeled shoes are my sister’s. It’s by Steve Madden. Not all of my sister’s shoes fit me well, but this pair is awesome. It’s comfy, and I look tall.

When buying shoes, make sure you’re comfortable, and that they’re just the right price. Ate is an expert at this.

Eyewear

I bought the Ray-Bans when I was traveling alone from Australia. I saw it in a duty-free shop at the airport. I had been waiting for its John

SHE loves rings with animal designs.

Lennon style shades to come out. I think it’s called Round Meta. It’s polarized and really good for the eyes—my reward for being good in school and at work. I’m not the type to collect shades; I’m not earning enough yet.
