A primary concern for any parent is getting the right education for his or her child. For former actress Rica Peralejo, the path she has considered for 4-year-old son Philip is homeschooling.

The full-time mom and blogger revealed on her Instagram that she has been educating herself on the Montessori approach developed by Italian educator Dr. Maria Montessori.

Peralejo credited her sister Paula for introducing her to the method of education. “I would have never discovered how wonderful this educational philosophy is if not for her. It’s so respectful and so humbling,” she said.

Been learning so much about the Montessori philosophy because of my books and curriculum I am studying as I ready myself for homeschooling @philipbonifacio. Thanks to my sister @mama_the_explorer for all her input and influence to me! I would have never discovered how wonderful this educational philosophy is if not for her. It’s so respectful and so humbling. I am so excited and nervous to take on this path, but I trust God, and I trust that He made a smart and loving child inside of my boy, which I am only meant to guide, not make; there is in every child that something wonderful God has planted for us to unwrap and discover. 🙌🏻💥🦋 “The parent’s role is that of a guardian, not a creator.” #mamawonders #mamawanders Subscribe to my YT for updates on our journey! Radio jockey and television host Andi Manzano, who has one daughter named Olivia, chimed in, “All my sisters were homeschooled too! It’s tough at first but once they get the whole rhythm of them learning and doing it by themselves it will be easier.”

“One graduated college already, one is going to college and the youngest is still being homeschooled,” she added.

When a netizen suggested a school that had been effective for his children, she explained that going to school for a year didn’t work for her child. “I really think the boy needs to do it muna (first) at home…I can see that I must secure him emotionally while feeding him academically.”

She also shared with another netizen that she was willing to mix different education methods. “My rule of thumb is this: Do what works for your child. Montessori is great but I also have other values and my child also may need other things that go outside of the Montessori approach.”

On her Instagram Stories, the mom showed her love for teaching as she quizzed Philip on flags and their corresponding countries.

Peralejo has been married to Christian pastor, Joseph Bonifacio, since 2010. She decided to drop out of the showbiz industry to focus on family life. The actress is known for teen shows “Gimik” and “Ang TV.”

However, she said in a 2015 “Kris TV” episode that she was not totally counting out opportunities in the industry yet.  /ra
