Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez marked her 48th birthday yesterday, April 22, with an intimate gathering at home with her loved ones.
Velasquez, who is probably used to being the one doing the singing, was sung to by her family as she held a luscious mango cake, as shared by husband Ogie Alcasid yesterday on Instagram.
It is known that over the weekend, Velasquez and Alcasid were in Billy Crawford and Coleen Garcia’s wedding in Balesin Island, where Velasquez serenaded the newly-wedded couple with “Araw Gabi”, her original hit composed by Ryan Cayabyab.
A day after the wedding, Alcasid took to his Instagram where he wished his wife the happiest of birthdays.
“In a few hours, it will be the birthday of my beautiful wife who unceasingly takes my breath away,” wrote Alcasid in a heartfelt letter. “I wish you continued joy in your heart my love. The JOY that can only come from the one that has an unending supply of it. Jesus Only You. (JOY) I love you with all my heart. Happiest birthday!”
Velasquez ditched the fancy partying and opted for a low-key celebration in their humble abode, allowing the kids to enjoy themselves in their swimming pool. On her Instagram page yesterday, she shared a post of her son Nate, who turns 7 years old this year, having fun in the pool with his friends. “Swimming party,” wrote Velasquez.

Velasquez also received a “pa-birthday” from local fast-food chain Jollibee which she endorses, sending her way a cake and spaghetti in time for her little gathering. She blew the candles with son Nate and mom Teresita.

It wasn’t just all cakes, however. Husband Alcasid also shared on his Instagram page the sumptuous fare that they had for the night.
“The spread tonight was prepared by dear friend @paolo_busta #happybirthdayregine,” wrote Alcasid as he posted a snap of buttered shimp and corn, liempo, and a whole array of other viands. Paolo Bustamante is the owner of Buffet Cooks and Caterers Corp.

In his latest post today, April 23, Alcasid told his followers that he and Velasquez will be having their “real” honeymoon this week, since they never really had the chance to have one back then.
“Since we got married, we haven’t really had a ‘real’ honeymoon since wifey got pregnant straight away. This time, we have four days to celebrate her birthweek and enjoy our delayed honeymoon. #tyLord for this. @reginevalcasid.”
