Eula Valdes on her 9-year relationship with BF Rocky Salumbides: ‘We’re surviving together’

How would you describe your relationship with someone you have been with for so long? For actress Eula Valdes, she simply said about her and boyfriend Rocky Salumbides as “We’re surviving together.”
Previously, Valdes was quoted as saying that her nine-year relationship with Salumbides as “boring.” She then clarified on its context: “Of course, I said that in jest,” she told talk show host Boy Abunda in a “Tonight with Boy Abunda” episode aired yesterday.
“Pero what’s there? I mean… di ba nine years. Of course, we’re still together,” the actress further explained. “That’s more important than saying ganito ganyan (this and that)… we’re surviving! Surviving together!”
But how do they keep the flame alive despite having nothing in common? “Siguro ang na-enjoy lang namin together ay music. Because ang mom niya is just seven years older sa akin,” she joked. She then went on: “… pero ang inam naman niyan, napaga-aralan niya na ‘Okay pala, ito yung gusto ni Eula.’ At ako naman, may mga bagay na naka-gisnan, nakasanayan niya na ‘O, okay pala ito.’ Nae-enjoy din namin. But as an individual, we have nothing in common.”
(But he’s very observant. He learns that “Okay, this is what Eula wants.” And me, there are things that I got used to like “Oh, this is okay.” We enjoy it too. But as an individual, we have nothing in common.)
When Abunda asked point blank how sex was important in their relationship, the actress expressed her opinion: “Ako kasi ‘pag mahal mo ang isang tao, it doesn’t matter kung wala kayong sex. Pero syempre once in a while di ba? Kung hinahanap mo.”
(For me, if you love someone, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have sex. But of course, once in a while right? If you’re looking for it.)

Since Valdes revealed that Salumbides considers sex as important, she admitted that it was a topic that they argue about. At one point, she said to him: “Kawawa ka naman, why don’t you look for a younger [woman] (Poor you, why don’t you look for a younger [woman])?”
And she assured that her love for him was “beyond sexual, beyond physical.”
With she and Salumbides happy in their relationship, have they ever brought up the topic of marriage? “Siya (Rocky) before,” Valdes said. “Pero kasi hindi pa kami annulled eh (But we’re not annulled yet),” she added pertaining to her marriage to Richard Lintojua.
