Over the past few years, Morissette Amon has managed to cultivate a formidable presence online, thanks to her viral song covers—particularly, those recorded live inside the bus-turned-recording booth of the FM radio station Wish 107.5.

The young vocalist’s version of Little Mix’s power ballad “Secret Love Song” alone has amassed over 60 million views on YouTube. Her renditions of Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds” and Sia’s “Chandelier,” meanwhile, have 34 and 21 million views, respectively.

On top of that, Morissette is also a favorite among YouTube’s community of “reactors,” or vloggers who film themselves doing commentary while watching performance videos.

But does internet popularity necessarily translate to actual ticket sales? In that regard, Morissette’s first major solo concert, “Made”—to be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum tomorrow—will be an acid test of sorts of her drawing power.

“That’s one of my worries,” she admitted in a recent interview with the Inquirer. “A lot of people are more into social media these days. But I’m really pushing myself… I want to convince and tell people that seeing and hearing me sing in person is different.”

Morissette, who finished first runnerup in TV5’s “Star Factor” and competed in the first season of ABS-CBN’s “The Voice of the Philippines,” took home six trophies at this year’s Wish 107.5 Music Awards, including Artist of the Year.

But regardless of her coming show’s turnout, Morissette said, the fact that she would be performing in one of the country’s most important performing venues is in itself an accomplishment to be proud of and grateful for. “A dream come true.”

“As a probinsyana from Cebu, just hearing about ‘Araneta Coliseum’ was already a big deal. And the mere thought of singing there makes me quite nervous. But it would be amazing to share my talent with people at that big a place,” Morissette said.

“I don’t mind that I’m having this big break only now. If it came earlier I feel like I wouldn’t be ready for it,” she said. “But I am now, because I had been through a lot and experienced more things. And now I get to have my moment.”

“But of course, it’s always a learning process. And I don’t want to stop there. I want to continue making progress as an artist and to keep exploring what else I can do,” added the singer, who also dreams of becoming a concert director in the future.

She described “Made” (call 9115555) as a “powerful” concert “packed with surprises” and will feature repertoire that will include songs that people wouldn’t necessarily expect from her.
“I will do songs I don’t usually get the chance to perform. I will highlight my journey through music, and maybe do some dancing, too,” she said.
