JM de Guzman to star in TV show with Barbie Imperial as leading lady

JM de Guzman is working hard to make his showbiz comeback, with one of his first projects being a Precious Hearts Romances reboot.

De Guzman will star once again in the TV series based on the bestselling romance pocketbooks; he was also in the teleserye that ran from 2009 to 2013.

In the first series titled “Araw Gabi”, it was revealed that he will topbill opposite Barbie Imperial.

The actress got her break in “Pinoy Big Brother 737” in 2015 and has starred in a few TV shows such as “Ipaglaban Mo”.

On social media pages of the actors, photos of the onscreen love team show them in intimate poses, such as the actress on de Guzman’s lap.

While many are excited to see him back on the small screen, some questioned the choice of pairing, given their age gap — Imperial is 19 and de Guzman is 29. Other also cited Barbie’s acting experience.

“Hindi sila bagay, ang bata pa ni Barbie,” noted one netizen. (They’re not appropriate for each other, Barbie is too young.)

“Kulang sa acting si Barbie,” said another comment on Instagram. (Barbie’s acting experience is lacking.)

Some pointed out that the story is about a relationship with an age difference, while others mentioned that the Coco Martin and Julia Montes tandem worked despite a 14-year age gap.

“Is it bawal kung gusto ko sila maging loveteam? Parang Coco and Julia lang yan uy!” read one comment. (Am I not allowed to want them as a love team? They’re just like Coco and Julia!)
