After MMFF win, EA Guzman to release new album

Edgar Allan “EA” Guzman has been unapologetically vocal about his desire to bag an acting award, and he got it.

At the 43rd Metro Manila Film Festival’s (MMFF) recent Gabi ng Parangal, EA was named best supporting actor for his performance in the comedy drama, “Deadma Walking”—and thanks partly to longstanding tradition, he jested.

“Before the awards night, I went to the St. Clare Monastery and offered three eggs—pink, red and green—for good luck. It was the first time I did it. I prayed for the award. Fortunately, they gave it to me—agad-agad! I couldn’t believe it,” EA, who plays a gay theater actor in the movie, told the Inquirer.

“Hopefully, this recognition will help me book more jobs,” said the 29-year-old actor, who’s part of the GMA 7 television series, “My Korean Jagiya.”

“I hope to be part of another series. In terms of movies, I have already been getting some offers. So, that’s a positive way to welcome 2018.”

Sexy rom-com

It has been six years since EA won the best actor award for the sexy rom-com, “Ligo na U, Lapit na Me,” at the 2011 Cinemalaya film festival.

EA doesn’t have much time yet to celebrate his recent success. But given the chance, he said he would love to go on a solo trip to the United States.
“I’d love to attend a live NBA match, preferably between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder. It’s my dream to see my idol, Stephen Curry,” he related.

So what’s next for EA? He revealed he’s planning to release his new music, which has been shelved for a few years now. “This is the best time for the album. I want to maximize the momentum I have now.”
