An executive at Disney has been arrested and will face charges in relation to sexually abusing two minor girls about a decade ago.

The Variety reported on Saturday that 58-year-old Jon Heely, Disney’s director for music publishing, will face three counts of child sexual abuse. The first minor he abused was a 15-year-old; the second was 11 years old whom he continued to abuse for four years until she was 15 years old.

Heely was arrested on Nov. 16 by Santa Clarita, Los Angeles authorities. He posted a $150,000 (around P2.8 million) bail. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and will be back in court on Jan. 10, 2018, the report stated.

When reached for comment, Heely’s attorney, Robert Helfend, defended his client and said of the accusations, “It’s a shame.”

“He vehemently denies these allegations and we will be fighting until the end to clear his name,” Helfend stressed.

“Immediately upon learning of this situation tonight, he has been suspended without pay until the matter is resolved by the courts,” a spokesperson for Disney said.

If found guilty, Heely might be locked in jail for nine years and three months. Katrina Hallare/JB
