Fatherhood suits Aljur Abrenica

Aljur, Alas and Kylie

Aljur Abrenica remains “papable” even if he’s already a daddy to Alas, his firstborn with Kylie Padilla.

Fatherhood suits the former Kapuso hunk. Now, he’s a certified Kapamilya.

Kylie and Alas serve as his lucky charms because Aljur’s career has been revitalized.

Happiness surrounds their cute “Family Three.” But, their joy would be complete only if and when Aljur finally gets to talk to Kylie’s dad, Robin Padilla, man-to-man.

Knowing Binoe (Robin’s nickname), he will soften up eventually and accept Aljur as his son-in-law.

The concerned dad in Binoe is just probably putting Aljur on probation (for the meantime) because the now-reformed former Bad Boy knows the evil that men can do.

But seeing how devoted Aljur is to Kylie and Alas ought to dispel any apprehensions of Binoe soon enough.

I remember the time Aljur asked for my advice when he and Kylie split up many controversies ago. He was so devastated.

That’s why I know for sure there’s nothing Aljur won’t do for the love of Kylie.

For the first time, Robin met his grandson, Alas, at the birthday party of his daughter Isabella recently.

May that priceless moment pave the way for a group hug of Binoe, Kylie and Aljur. That much-awaited day will come when one kind of love gives way to another.

Here’s my chat with Aljur:

How do you feel that Alas finally met his lolo Robin? Ever since Alas was born, all the family he has seen were from my side.

When I saw the video of the time Robin held Alas in his arms for the first time and saw how Kylie was in tears because of how happy she felt that her dad finally met our child, it made me super happy.

When do you plan to talk to your father-in-law, Robin, and what are some of the things you would want to tell him? I’ve been trying to reach out to him long before Alas was born. When Kylie and I got back together, we both wanted to get her father’s blessing.

But the timing wasn’t OK back then. If ever we get to finally talk, I will assure him that I will take care and love his daughter and our son until the day I die, and I’ll try my best to always make her happy.

In this world where nothing is certain, my love for Kylie is not only for keeps, but will last for more than a lifetime.

How do you and Kylie resolve your tampuhan? We argue, we cool down, then we patch things up. We don’t go to sleep without resolving differences, so we can sleep soundly and wake up refreshed.

When Alas is grown up, what advice will you give him about women? To always have respect for them.

What’s the best and toughest part of fatherhood? The best part is having someone in this world who is a part of me.

The toughest part is being the best example to him. Nobody’s perfect, so it’s important that I show him how to recover from every mistake and survive every challenge.

How’s your adjustment in your new network? I’m happy with ABS-CBN. Its system made me improve my craft, and its bosses have welcomed me with open arms. The unit I belong to (Dreamscape) is so supportive.

What’s the sweetest thing Kylie has done for you? Loving me. Every day is an adventure, because we’re discovering new things about ourselves that make us stronger as a couple.

What scares and excites you about marriage? Marriage doesn’t scare me at all. It’s a choice we make when we are ready to commit ourselves to the one person we want to grow old with. Kylie and I are still in the planning stage.

If you would give your father-in-law a Christmas gift, what would it be? He already has everything, so I guess peace of mind—that his baby girl is in safe and loving hands.

How has Kylie made you a better man? It was when she chose me to be her partner and made me a father.
