Could JoshLia’s next project be a Claudine-Rico remake?
Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia might just be in a remake of a classic Claudine Barretto and Rico Yan film.
Viva Entertainment recently shared a quote from Claudine in a 2015 Philippine Entertainment Portal interview where she said, “I told Direk Wenn [Deramas] and I told [producer] Tita Malou Santos, I want Julia to do the remake of ‘Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita.’”
“And then ako si Jaclyn Jose, mas pinalakihan yung role (I’ll play Jaclyn Jose’s part but in a bigger role),” she added.
Released in 1998, “Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita” stars Claudine, Rico Yan, and Diether Ocampo. The movie features an unlikely romance between Mela, a schoolgirl with a bad reputation (Barretto) and a rich student who’s a stickler for rules (Yan).

Jose plays Mela’s aunt in the film.
Julia has reacted to Viva’s post and wrote, “Mama this is our dream!”

“Will the hit movie be remade? Stay tuned,” Viva wrote.
During the Star Magic Ball 2017 last Sept. 30, Claudine told ABS-CBN News that she doesn’t want her niece and Joshua Garcia to be tagged as the next Claudine Barretto-Rico Yan.
