Let’s talk about how exciting this series looks. The clip shows Lee Jong-suk and Suzy, the lead actors of the series, gazing at each other while standing on a snowy street. Suzy, who has a scratch on her face, approaches Lee, whose head is bleeding. The two share an ardent hug.
What is happening here? According to K-Pop Herald, “While You Were Sleeping” is about a young woman, Nam Hong-ju, who is able to foresee the tragic events of the future in her dreams. Lee plays prosecutor Jung Jae-chan, who does everything in his power to prevent such events from taking place. It is directed by Oh Choong-hwan, who was behind the series “My Love from the Star” and “Doctors”.
That plot was evident in the emotional and dream-like trailer where Suzy said the following lines: “I saw you in my dream. Listen to me if you want to live. You can’t change the future.” Lee answers with, “No one will believe the future that I changed.”
Now you’ll wonder, why is there a scratch on Suzy’s face? Why is Lee Jong-suk bleeding? Did they do that to each other? Or did another person inflicted harm on them?
It’s hard to say that the two purposely hurt each other because obviously, there’s love between the characters. The feelings are evident as the two kiss amid a shower of cherry blossoms, while the subtitle reads, “If you could see the future in your dreams, would you be able to change that future, that time, that destiny?”
Interesting plot, good on-screen chemistry of the leads, plus a reliable director working behind the scenes. What reason is there to miss it? JB
