HBO’s “Game of Thrones” is truly one of  the best shows in television today in terms of acting and storytelling.

However, constantly putting up a quality material has its price, as the TV adaptation from George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” has become one of the most expensive shows in history.

With the eighth and final season expected to air either in 2018 or 2019, HBO is pulling out all the stops to make sure it delivers its best one yet and will spare no expense in order to do so.

FEATURED STORIES

According to Variety, the show’s remaining six episodes will cost around a whopping $15 million each.

HBO is no stranger to shelling out massive amount of cash to produce the epic saga, as the first season had a $6-million-per-episode budget while seasons 2 to 5 cost $8 million apiece. Seasons 6 and 7, meanwhile, had a $10 million budget.

The absurd amount is due in part to a shooting schedule that more resembles that of a feature film than an episodic series, the report said.

The vast storyline also demands multiple production units shooting at once, while traveling around the world.

Furthermore, the cost is further amplified by the series’  epic war scenes—which season 8 would most likely focus on with the impending clash of the entire Westeros against the formidable army of White Walkers.  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
