George Clooney shares why he and Amal gave twins normal names, describes babies’ personalities

Ella and Alexander Alamudin Clooney have the most ordinary first names, even if their last names are anything but.
New dad George Clooney and human rights-lawyer mom Amal Alamuddin “just didn’t want [the twins] to have really dumb names,” said Clooney in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight while promoting a film he directed, “Suburbicon”.
This is a break from unique names that Hollywood babies have been adorned with like North West (Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s first child), Apple Martin (Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter), and almost every Jolie-Pitt (Maddox, Pax and Knox, to name a few).
“We figured these kids are going to be looked at a lot and watched and [have their] every move sort of judged, and we wanted them to at least have a break with the names,” the actor and filmmaker explained.
“So we looked for some sort of normal names. We didn’t have any great inspiration. It wasn’t Alexander the Great and Ella Fitzgerald.”
The family of four has been in the United Kingdom and Italy since the babies’ birth. Alamuddin, 39, and Clooney, 56 have preferred to keep their presence low-key and have not released pictures of the infants.
The twins who were born in June already have their own personalities, shares the proud father.
Alexander is a “thug,” the award-winning actor describes. “Literally, he just sits and he eats.”
Actor and long-time friend Matt Damon, who stars in “Suburbicon”, claims little Alex could even be a bouncer at a Hollywood club.
Of Ella, Clooney cooed, “She’s very elegant, and all eyes. She looks like Amal, thank god.” Niña V. Guno/JB
