Actor Christian Bables, whose transgender woman character Barbie in the comedy film, “Die Beautiful,” made him a household name, has no qualms about baring it all in front of the cameras, “if the script called for it.”

In fact, he admitted to having a butt exposure in his latest film by Chito Roño, titled “Bagtik” (Cape Signal Rock). Bables also said he would have agreed to doing frontal nudity if Roño had asked him to.

“That’s how much I love the craft. My passion for acting is overflowing,” he explained. “An actor’s portrayal should mimic life. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make my character more real and believable.”

Since he bagged the Gawad Urian for best supporting actor for “Die Beautiful,” Bables has agreed to do several projects.

He was part of the Star Cinema-produced romantic comedy “Finally Found Someone,” featuring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz. He also finished shooting with Kim Chiu the film “Ghost Bride,” also by Roño.

Bables is currently working on the Cignal series, “Born Beautiful”—a story that takes off after Trisha, Barbie’s bestfriend in “Die Beautiful,” passes away.

“There was a point in my life when I felt overwhelmed with all the attention. My face was everywhere on the internet. It was tough for me in the beginning. It was like everything was too good to be true. It’s as if instant fame was trying to destroy the real me,” recalled Bables.

“I prayed hard for discernment. I eventually accepted that the things happening to me were part of being in show biz; that I would just have to go with the flow,” he pointed out. “I retraced the reason I’m here—to express myself through acting.”

“I’m old enough to decipher who among the people I meet are real and are for keeps.

“I’m OK now, especially because I have people who guide me and remind me why I’m here.”

Bables is one of the three actors who signed up with the newly formed artist management group called The IdeaFirst Company of award-winning directors, Jun Robles Lana and Perci Intalan.

Also part of the roster are actors Cedrick Juan and Adrianna So (formerly known as Malak So); writer-directors Prime Cruz, Miko Livelo, Ivan Andrew Payawal, Dominic Lim and Sigrid Andrea Bernardo.

“After ‘Die Beautiful,’ several people showed interest in managing me. After hearing all their plans, it felt like my heart wasn’t fully into them,” recalled Bables.

“What made the difference in IdeaFirst was the company’s sense of family. I feel comfortable with them. I trust them. They were the first persons who believed in my talent. They trusted me, even though I still had nothing to prove. Actually, they made me.”
