Casey Affleck accidentally casts doubt on brother Ben’s role as Batman
Casey Affleck may have unintentionally confirmed rumors that his brother Ben would be dropped as Batman in the dark knight’s upcoming DC solo movie.
While on the radio show “Dale & Holley with Keefe,” the 42-year-old said, “I thought he was an OK Batman,” with regards to his older brother’s performance in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
He continued, “No, he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie [“The Batman”], I don’t think. Sorry to say.”
“You broke my heart,” said one of the interviewers.
The “Manchester by the Sea” actor said, “Is that breaking news? Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”
When asked if he was willing to be a replacement, Affleck said, “I don’t think so.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, doubts on Ben Affleck continuing as the billionaire hero have been circulating since late July. During this year’s San Diego Comic Convention, the actor declared that he would be staying.
He was previously slotted to direct and act in the movie, but has since been replaced as director by Matt Reeves (“War for the Planet of the Apes”). Reeves has since chosen to forgo Affleck’s script written with Chris Terrio and DC’s Geoff Johns. Niña V. Guno /ra
