Cinema Rehiyon Film Fest set from Aug. 22-27
About a hundred filmmakers are expected to take part in the annual Cinema Rehiyon Film Festival, set from Aug. 22 to 27 in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.
The film fest is part of a series of related events to mark the three-year formation of Philippine cinema.
A technical working group, to be headed by the National Committee on Cinema (NCCinema), will be formed in September to oversee the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the local film industry.
In line with this, key industry players are set to meet at an international conference, dubbed “Sandaan,” to be held from Sept. 14 to 15 at the UP Film Center in Quezon City and at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in Manila, respectively.
Conference codirector Patrick Campos said the “Sandaan” will feature a panel of 30 keynote speakers from Asia, Australia, the United States and Europe. —MARINEL R. CRUZ
