The local show biz mourns the death of veteran talent manager Alfie Lorenzo, considered an institution in the industry, who died on Tuesday at 2:13 a.m., following a heart attack at the Solaire Hotel and Casino in Pasay City. He was 78.

A Twitter post from ABS-CBN’s Mario Dumaual confirmed the news of his death. In his tweet, Dumaual said the death of the showbiz stalwart was confirmed by his nephew Ramon Lorenzo.

Actress Judy Ann Santos, who was among the celebrities he managed, will take care of the funeral arrangements. Lorenzo’s family also confirmed that a wake will be held in Pampanga.

Not too long ago, Santos announced her decision to finally move on after more than three decades under Lorenzo’s management. The actress previously said that they parted ways in peace and had talked amicably about her decision. However, the 78-year-old talent manager reportedly cited disagreements related to finances as the cause of Santos’ decision to leave.

It is still unclear, though, if the two were in speaking terms at the time of Lorenzo’s death.

Despite having been involved in countless word wars with his talents and other personalities in show biz, Lorenzo is known for being kind-hearted and generous.  /ra
