Jennifer Aniston to make TV comeback in show with Reese Witherspoon

They’ve made names for themselves in blockbuster movies, but Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are reuniting on television for an upcoming series.

The actresses played sisters in the NBC sitcom “Friends” and also have a real-life friendship.

They are set to star in an untitled TV show about morning shows and the media industry in New York, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Producer Michael Ellenberg (“Robin Hood”, “Prometheus”) heads the project through his new production company Media Res. “House of Cards” producer Jay Carson will write the script.

Witherspoon, 41, has been versatile in her roles, such as in “Legally Blonde” and “Walk the Line”, with her winning an Oscar Best Actress award for the latter. She earned an Oscar acting nomination again in 2015 for the film adaptation of the bestselling memoir “Wild”, which she also produced. Her current project is the HBO mini-series “Big Little Lies” where she has Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgard as costars.

After she shot to fame as Rachel in “Friends” and inspired 1990s women’s hairstyles, Aniston, 48, starred in hit rom-coms and comedies such as “She’s The One”, “Along Came Polly” and “Bruce Almighty”. She also later made cameo appearances on television. This project with Witherspoon will be her first TV series since “Friends” ended in 2004, after a 10-year run.

Aniston’s husband Justin Theroux currently stars in the HBO series “The Leftovers”.

The show will be distributed through cable such as HBO or streaming services such as Netflix. Niña V. Guno/JB
