/ 05:40 AM July 15, 2017

Carlo Francisco Manatad’s “Jodilerks dela Cruz, Employee of the Month” will be screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), from Aug. 3 to 20. The Filipino film will be part of the “much-loved and internationally acclaimed” MIFF Shorts program.

According to its website, the MIFF Shorts section “highlights the art of saying more with less…[by] showcasing the best shorts—from prize-winning films at Cannes to local discoveries.”

“Jodilerks,” which features award-winning actress Angeli Bayani in the title role, premiered in the International Critics’ Week section of Cannes last May.

The 13-minute Filipino film is also included in a new lineup in Melbourne, Southeast Asian Shorts. Screenings of “Jodilerks” are set on Aug. 11 and 18.

The Melbourne fest seeks to “build an enlightened, engaged society through film.” The event’s goal is to bring to audiences “the story of the world through curated and unforgettable screen experiences.”—BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
