Best food for ‘Pambansang Bae’ Alden according to Maine

While she took up culinary arts, all she ever really cooks, Maine Mendoza jested, are … eggs. But if compelled to make something more special for her onscreen sweetheart, Alden Richards, she said she would most likely whip up something for dessert.

“I want cupcakes. This is the type of food we should be serving the Pambansang Bae—something sweet, ganun!” Maine said, giggling. “Nakakainis! Pa-cute lang?”

Maine and Alden, however, are busy cooking up something else.

They will be celebrating their “AlDub” love team’s second anniversary tomorrow where it all began—in the noontime variety show, “Eat Bulaga!” The 22-year-old star was tight-lipped about what they were preparing, but assured us that it was something their fans “would enjoy.”

“Time surely flies! I would like to thank all the fans who, after two years, are still holding on to us. They gave us nothing but love; they supported us unfailingly in whatever we did,” Maine told select reporters at her recent launch as the new endorser of Fly Ace Corp.’s Jolly food line, which is marking its 20th anniversary this year.

So far in her still budding career, Maine has done hosting and acting, both in television and film. But given the chance, she would love to direct a short film someday.

“Of course, that’s not happening anytime soon. I would have to study first and take proper lessons for that, too,” Maine pointed out, adding that she had always been interested in writing, shooting videos and editing them. “I think I can be effective behind the camera. I feel like I can do that.”

But at the moment, Maine still enjoys the projects being given to her. She and Alden are expected to topbill a new film. “We’re busy training. We need to be physically fit for it, so we’re doing boxing and Muay Thai,” she related.

On deactivating her Twitter account last June, Maine said she had been enjoying life without the social networking site, which, she lamented, became too “toxic” for her.

“I was used to checking my Twitter account upon waking up. Ideally, I just want to have a quiet morning. But there has been so much negativity on it,” said Maine, who implored her bashers to channel their energies into more productive activities. “I don’t know what they get out of bashing other people.”

Perhaps they could use some of those cupcakes?
