Filipina who impressed ‘X-Factor UK’ joins ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’
A Filipina singer who once impressed the judges of “X-Factor UK” has returned to join ABS-CBN’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”
On the segment aired on “It’s Showtime” on Thursday, 34-year-old Ivy Grace Paredes belted out Whitney Houston’s “Run to You,” which secured her first win in the competition.
Paredes, who hails from Malaybalay, Bukidnon, needs to win five more rounds to qualify for the next stage.
She made headlines back in September for her mind-blowing audition for the British singing search. Judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne commended Paredes for her powerful rendition of “All the Man that I Need,” also a Houston hit.
However, she was forced to quit the show after her US visa application, which she needed in order to film episodes in Los Angeles, was rejected. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
