Was Gal Gadot victim to Hollywood’s gender pay gap as Wonder Woman?

When news came out that “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot was paid some millions less than other male superhero actors, well-intentioned netizens were quickly angered.
The gender-pay gap has long been an issue in Hollywood, and news that Gadot was being shortchanged after leading the most successful DC movie to date seemed unfair.
While Teen Vogue columnist Lauren Duca turned the news viral in a tweet, she was citing an Elle report that Superman lead Henry Cavill received $14 million for the 2013 film “Man of Steel”.

This was compared to Gadot’s $300,000 per picture as Wonder Woman, which was based on information from an Israeli talk show last 2014.
However, the pay gap may not apply to Gadot after all.
Media site Vox reviewed Elle’s sources, and found that the source of Cavill’s earnings was from a website called The Richest that estimates a celebrity’s net worth. Given that the site wasn’t reliable, Elle corrected their article and Duca deleted her post.
New or unknown actors usually receive relatively small salaries for superhero movies. Hollywood news site Deadline has reported that Chris Evans received $300,000 for his first movie as Captain America while The Hollywood Reporter cited that Chris Hemsworth was paid $150,000 as Thor.
That said, Cavill was allegedly paid the same sum as Gadot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
