WATCH: ‘The Orville’ with Seth MacFarlane spoofs ‘Star Trek’
An upcoming sci-fi comedy TV series, “The Orville”, appears to be a spoof of the popular science fiction franchise “Star Trek”.
The ship design, its interior, the multi-racial crew and their uniform—just about every bit of what was shown on this first trailer screams “Star Trek”.
While Spock and Kirk would sometimes argue like an old married couple, the show goes the extra mile and throws in a divorced couple—actor Seth MacFarlane plays the role of the ship’s captain while the character of the ex-wife happens to be the first officer.
As one of the deck officers put it, “This should be a really fun trip for all of us.”
“The Orville” is scheduled to start airing on Fox later this year. JB
