The much-awaited trailer for “I am Heath Ledger,” a biopic about the late Australian actor, was released on Tuesday, the day that should have been his 38th birthday.

The upcoming movie featured never-before-seen clips of Ledger, who passed away in January 2008 due to an accidental drug overdose. As part of the tearjerker tribute to his glittering Hollywood career, snippets from his films “Brokeback Mountain,” “A Knight’s Tale” and “The Dark Night” were incorporated into the biopic, Deadline reported.

Also, Ledger’s friends and colleagues recounted their treasured times with him, such as “Brokeback Mountain” director Ang Lee, musician Ben Harper, actor Ben Mendelsohn, ex-girlfriend Naomi Watts and model Christina Cauchi.

“Even as a supporting actor he will steal the whole show,” Lee described the late actor. “That’s the power of Heath Ledger.”

“Heath was the most alive human and if it wasn’t on the edge it didn’t interest him,” said Harper.

Ledger fathered a daughter, 11-year-old Matilda, from “Brokeback Mountain” co-star and ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams.

“I am Heath Ledger,” directed by Derik Murray, will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on April 23 and on Spike TV on May 17.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
