A prequel series set to debut on CBS in May, the science-fiction TV show, “Star Trek: Discovery,” will star Michelle Yeoh (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”), Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”), James Frain (“Gotham”), Sonequa Martin-Green (“The Walking Dead”) and Anthony Rapp (“Rent”).

Set a decade before the original series, “Star Trek: Discovery” features Martin-Green as the main character, Rainsford—a lieutenant commander. Frain portrays the Vulcan Spock’s father, Sarek.

Rapp plays gay science officer Stamets, while Yeoh and Isaacs are cast as captains of the Shenzou and Discovery vessels, respectively. The show is being filmed in Canada.

English child star Millie Bobby Brown, who plays psychic kid Eleven in the hit Netflix sci-fi series “Stranger Things,” recently apologized for being unable to attend Collective Con, a convention in Jacksonville, Florida.

“I had to cancel a comic con [appearance] at the last minute,” she said in her Instagram video while looking tired. “I think I’ve worked too hard and have to rest, as I’ve had a really long shoot and I’m still filming ‘Stranger Things.’”

Brown, 13, apologized to fans, and looked forward to attending future events when she has fully recovered: “I promise you, guys—I’m gonna get back to you. I love you … thank you so much for your continued support.”

The usually energetic Brown, one of the series’ breakout stars, appeared in conventions, including one held in Manila last year, as well as in talk shows, immediately after the show’s success.

She and some of the “Stranger Things” boys sang and danced at the Emmys last October. They also rapped for the Golden Globes’ prerecorded segment early this year. —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
