On her official Facebook page on Tuesday, the 35-year-old pop superstar made a surprise announcement that she would be holding a one-night concert on June 15 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Before long, “Britney Spears” was a trending topic on social media.

The news was confirmed later on by local promoter Wilbros Live.

“We’ve been in negotiations for almost a year,” Wilbros Live executive Glenn Llamas told the Inquirer. “We have been speaking with Britney’s management and representatives.”

Tickets go on sale on April 5; call 470-2222.

The musical event in Manila, simply titled “Britney: Live in Concert,” is expected to be a part of a coming world tour, which many Britney fans have been speculating about for some time now.

The recording artist has yet to extensively go around Asia, with her previous tour having had only two stops in the continent: Tokyo in 2002 and Abu Dhabi in 2011.

Britney, who has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, last went on tour in 2011.

In 2013, she kicked off her residency show in Las Vegas titled “Britney: Piece of Me,” which runs until September this year.
