Pregnant Kylie apologizes to fans, crew for ‘Encantadia’ exit

Kylie Padilla has apologized to her fans and the cast and crew of GMA 7’s “Encantadia” for her abrupt exit following her pregnancy.
In her blog entry titled “The Blue One,” published on Saturday, the 24-year-old actress commended the show’s staff for patiently covering her baby bump during combat scenes and graciously writing her off from the series as Amihan, the keeper of the Air Gem. Nevertheless, the mom-to-be is happy to settle down and share the blessing with longtime boyfriend Aljur Abrenica.
“Unplanned pregnancy is not something you shout from the top of a mountain once you’ve reached the summit and at 23, under contract, I sadly could not celebrate the discovery as I much as I would have liked to. But I would have you know, the kid is still a blessing,” she said.
Moreover, Padilla apologized to the show’s avid viewers for an unanticipated end to Amihan’s reign; just like many others, she banked on her character to tie the knot with Ybrahim, her lover and King of Sapiro.
“I want to express my most sincere apologies to everyone for everything that happened because of this. I know many people were disappointed. I promise to make it up to you after my kid is strong enough to carry himself,” she wrote. “To the Encantadia cast and crew, I appreciate so much the care you took in those last couple taping days. Thank you for everything you did for me and what you continue to do for Amihan’s character on the show.”

She then revealed that Amihan’s final moments on the fantasy saga were penned to safeguard Padilla’s health. She further explained, “The entire team thought of so many ways to cheat through the pregnancy, like not shooting me from the chest down so as not to expose my growing stomach, or having Amihan swear off of ever holding a sword again after her sister Alena dies, so as not to do anymore fight scenes that might harm the child. And after many many meetings, it was finally decided for Amihan to make the biggest sacrifice that would eventually cost her life.”
When Amihan bid adieu from the queendom, her soul (ivtre) was reincarnated to a mortal named Ariana, played by “Starstruck’ alumna Arra San Agustin. Two months after she left the show and the magical world, Padilla said she hasn’t “moved on.”
“Even though taping is done and it has been about 2 months since I stopped working on Encantadia, I still have not moved on from everything, yet…But seriously, I have terrible separation anxiety towards Amihan. As you can probably tell, she was actually more than just a character to me,” she said. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
