The Korean superstar does not just beat other celebrities in purchasing limited edition shoes; he can raise the prices of products, and this is called the “GD effect.”

FEATURED STORIES

The term GD effect was coined by South Korean host Defconn during one of his shows in March 2016, KPop Herald reports.

According to Defconn, the shoes that GD wore for Infinite Challenge soon sold out. Note that this pair of shoes were shown onscreen for only a few seconds.

Defconn claims that without the GD effect, the shoes would have been left on the shelves.

“The price of the shoes soars because you (G-Dragon) wear it! Don’t wear those!” Defconn said.
