Dayanara Torres delighted her Filipino fans last Feb. 5, when she guested in “ASAP” and whipped up a hot-to-trot dance showcase to “prove” that she’s good and ready to twirl her way back into their hearts again.

She may look a bit more mature now, but her “dance diva” form and skills are still very much in evidence, so a big-screen dance showcase could be in the offing.

After all, the success of “La La Land” has made movie musicals the rage again, so a local musical production could be a trend-savvy move.

Other comeback gambits currently being talked about include a film for Dayanara with Piolo Pascual doing the costarring honors.

He’s “age-appropriate” for the assignment, but we daresay that fans here won’t feel completely happy and “solved” unless and until she acts again in a “more mature” screen rom-com with her “signature” screen consort, Aga Muhlach.

Back to Dayanara’s “ASAP” guesting gift to her Filipino fans: She did so well in it that she showed up all of the other “dance diva” aspirants who have cropped up after she and Charlene Gonzalez faded away from view.

Most of their undeserving “successors” have been woefully bland, laid-back and downright lazy to be taken seriously.

After Dayanara’s recent reminder of how dancing on TV should look and be, we trust that they will finally huff and puff to come up with the verve and va-va-voom dynamism required—or just stop pretending to be the dance divas they’re not.

New drama series
Other bright lights on TV this month include the new shows being unveiled this season on ABS-CBN. They are paced by the “reunion” series of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson, “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.”

The new show is deemed to be a potential hit, because the Kim-Gerald (“KimErald”) love tandem was a big deal on TV and movie screens for a number of years, with hit showcases like “Tayong Dalawa,” “Paano Na Kaya,” “First Day High,” “Love Spell,” “Sana Maulit Muli,” “I’ve Fallen for You,” “My Girl,” and “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.”

Since their love team disbanded, Gerald and Kim have been personally and professionally linked with other young stars, but producers believe that the “KimErald” tandem is still “good” for a few more hit showcases.

Another new series, “Wildflower,” costars Maja Salvador and Joseph Marco. It’s more of a gamble given the still-untested appeal of the Maja-Joseph tandem.

But, “Wildflower” is banking on its strong “vengeance” theme, with Maja’s character “seeking revenge against a powerful political family,” led by the characters portrayed by Tirso Cruz III and Aiko Melendez.

Finally, Paulo Avelino is getting his share of dramatic attention and showcasing by way of “The Promise of Forever.” The now young-adult comer plays a man “cursed to live forever,” whose past ends up “haunting” the present! Ritz Azul and Ejay Falcon are also featured.
