Smitten celebs’ blossoming romances

Dozens of Hollywood celebrities divorced or broke up last year. But slowly and steadily, there have been announcements of engagements, some reel romances that have blossomed into real ones.
“Fargo” actors Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons have gotten engaged, just a few weeks ago. “Twilight” actress Ashley Greene also shared the news of her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Aussie actor-TV host Paul Khoury.
Jamie Bell and Kate Mara, costars in the “Fantastic Four” remake, are set to tie the knot, as well. Meanwhile, Bell’s ex-wife, actress-musician Evan Rachel Wood, also got engaged recently, to Rebel and a Basketcase bandmate Zach Villa.

JK Rowling, best-selling “Harry Potter” author, has become something of a troll-slayer on Twitter. Commenters who claim to be disgusted by her anti-Donald Trump views, or attack her with profanity on the social networking site, are deservedly put in their place by the British writer.
“Guess it’s true what they say: You can lead a girl to books about the rise and fall of an autocrat, but you still can’t make her think,” she tweeted in response to one critic.
After another supposed ex-fan threatened to burn her “Harry Potter” book and DVD collections, Rowling replied: “Well, the fumes from the DVDs might be toxic and I’ve still got your money, so by all means, borrow my lighter.”
While the author has been effortlessly skewering abusive detractors left and right, many fans have expressed support, offering to buy even more of her books. Rowling joked in a post: “Actually, we’re thinking of selling them in pairs in [the] future: A ‘read one, burn one’ deal for those who like the magic, but not the morals.”
From gay knight to ‘Iron Fist’
British actor Finn Jones, who previously played the ill-fated gay knight Loras Tyrell in “Game of Thrones,” will appear next month as Danny Rand, aka the American superhero Iron Fist, in the Netflix series of the same name.
Jones, 28, will play the Marvel character, a combatant trained in martial arts and empowered by an ancient mystical force. After the “Iron Fist” series, the character will form a team with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Daredevil (Charlie Cox) in “The Defenders,” scheduled for release later this year. —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
