Vin on Aljur: Kuya didn’t tell family about ‘new chapter in his life’
Sometimes, two people have to be apart to see what they had together. That’s exactly what happened to Kylie Padilla and Aljur Abrenica. After parting ways to do some soul-searching, they got back together after realizing that they were indeed soulmates.
When they split up, Aljur seemed so distraught when I saw him at a party. He asked me what Kylie’s dad (Robin Padilla) was like. Apparently, he heard about the controversial “Binoe chapter” of my life. Back then, Robin was not too keen about Kylie ending up with Aljur. But time has a way of changing things.
As of press time, Aljur has yet to talk to Robin about Kylie’s pregnancy and their engagement. At this point in his life, Robin has mellowed after all the storms he went through. So, I’m sure acceptance will come easy for Robin when he and Aljur finally have a man-to-man talk.
Besides, Robin is too happy with Mariel Rodriguez and their baby, Isabel, to be bothered by the unexpected romantic developments in his daughter’s life.
As for Aljur’s side, I cornered his brother Vin Abrenica for his thoughts about the issue. He told me that Aljur was “missing in action” during their family’s Christmas and New Year celebrations, as well as their dad’s birthday.

We just heard about it in the news,” Vin said. “But he can count on our support. We’re always praying for him. We trust that he can handle the intrigues and challenges brought about by this new chapter in his life.”

‘Foolish’ Angeline on duplicity and living her dream
What better way to usher in the Love Month than by embracing the joys and woes of l’amour in Regal Films’ “Foolish Love,” starring Angeline Quinto and Jake Cuenca. It’s like a Pinoy version of what the French call folie à deux (madness shared by two).
In the film, Angeline plays a romantic fool.
Is love a valid excuse for us to become foolish? Blame it on Cupid.
Here’s my chat with Angeline:
What’s the most foolish thing you did for love? I loved a guy for two years, even when I knew he was already in a relationship with someone else.
What has fame taught you? I learned to appreciate everything I worked so hard to accomplish. I now prioritize my career because I know it won’t last forever.
What do you remember most about your struggling days? I remember that I almost quit “Star Power,” the talent search I eventually won, because I needed to watch over my Mama in the hospital.
I was the only one who took care of her, and I had to pay the hospital bills. It was quite a struggle chasing my dream to be a singer and watching over her at the same time. She needed a pacemaker to regulate her heartbeat.
What do you find hard to understand about guys? Why can’t some of them be satisfied with just one woman?
What do you want to change about yourself? Overeating rice and staying up late.
If you could be a guy for a month, who would you want to be? My Papa, who has already passed away, because the whole family misses him.
What’s a common misconception about you? People think I’m always happy.
If your life story were adapted into a film, what would the title be? “Proud Ampon.”
