The Kapuso network’s current “it” girl may look like a bad girl who gets everything she wants. But given a chance, all Kim Domingo wants is to live like a Disney princess who will, in the end, ride happily into the sunset with her Prince Charming. This alluring vamp is every girl’s envy and every man’s fantasy.
Our Q&A with Kim:
What convinced you to pose sexy for a girlie mag? Before I began pursuing a career in acting, I dreamed of posing for the cover of FHM. So, the people who asked me didn’t have a hard time convincing me to do it. People noticed me because of that pictorial. And when they asked me to do it again, I said yes because I treated it as an opportunity to get more people to notice me and help me realize my dream.
I enjoy doing those sexy shoots because the people I work with are some of the best in the magazine/print industry. Those pictorials are driven by concepts that allow me to explore my artistic side.
Do you consider yourself sexy? Maybe I am (laughs). But keep in mind that being sexy isn’t just about a woman’s physical appearance, it’s also about exuding confidence in yourself. Everyone can be sexy in his/her own way.
What was it like working with Vhong Navarro in “Mang Kepweng”? Weren’t you worried that he’d make a pass at you? He didn’t make a pass at me. He respects women, and I can vouch for that. During the shoot, nakita ko kung paano n’ya inalagaan ang kanyang costars. Through it all, in my experience, Vhong was a real gentleman. Marunong siyang makisama sa lahat (he gets along well with everybody), kahit sa production staff.
A leading man’s gentlemanly ways are important to me because I need to be comfortable with him. So that when the scenes you’re supposed to shoot get steamier, as they do in kissing/love scenes, they don’t look pilit (forced).
What are your likes and dislikes? I like people who are frank and honest. Ayoko ng nagpapakitang-tao para masabi lang na mabait.
What would you be doing if you weren’t in show biz? I’d be a dentistry student. That was what I wanted to be before I was lured into acting.
Do you have a favorite actress/actor? Yes, it’s Ms Jaclyn Jose. I see how good she is at acting, and I sense how much she loves her craft. So I don’t wonder why she’s also acclaimed internationally.
If you could be someone else, who would you be? I don’t want to be anybody but myself. I’m happy with how things are going for me these days. Whatever difficulties and sadness I have experienced in life have made me stronger. Those experiences made me who I am today. Kaya maayos ang buhay ko ngayon (That’s why I have a good life).
Dream role? I want a role similar to that of Princess Sarah, ’yung inaapi. But more than anything, I want to live like a Disney Princess.
