David Guetta to set the local EDM scene on fire

French DJ and record producer David Guetta, one of the top names in the electronic dance music (EDM) scene today, is set to hold a show on Jan. 5, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, as part of his “Unity” world tour (call 911-5555).

Aside from throbbing beats, the one-night show–mounted by Wilbros Live–is likewise expected to be a visual spectacle: huge LED screens, massive projections, pyrotechnics and lasers, strobes.

Guetta, who specializes in electro house, is currently ranked No. 1 on the DJ Rankings list, and No. 6 in DJ Magazine.

While he has been active since the 1980s, it wasnÕt until 2009 that he began to achieve worldwide mainstream success with the release of his album, “One Love,” which yielded the hit “When Love Takes Over.” Guetta is also behind the song, “Titanium,” with Sia on vocals. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
