When stars pay the price of fame and misfortune

Pluperfection and ‘everything,’ it turns out, are not enough to keep love aflame for the long term

The flashy, heady perks of show biz stardom are “orgiastically” obvious—millions in the bank, multicarats in the vault, instant “face value” all over the adoring universe, a nonstop parade of willing and wriggling sex partners in bed, “breaking news” treatment for the stars’ merest grunt or burp!

These days, however, the negative and darker consequences of stardom have been hugging and hogging the headlines, revealing the other, nastier face of the gleaming and beaming stellar coin.

Yes, there’s fabulous fame, but there’s also mean and mangy misfortune to being a global luminary, as some shell-shocked stars of the now “slivered” screen have traumatically realized:

Fickle finger of fate

FEATURED STORIES

First to get shafted by the fickle finger of fate this month was the seemingly perfect marriage of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. They had everything going for them, but they’re now in divorce court. Pluperfection and “everything,” it turns out, are not enough to keep love aflame for the long term.

The additional pity is the fact that both Brad and Angelina are also much-admired humanitarians, who have spent years and mega-millions to help the poorest of the poor all over the suffering world.

Aspirational value

It would be most unfortunate if their personal and private star war would erode the inspirational and aspirational value of the selfless example they have set for decades.

What’s most shocking about the Pitts’ “pittfall” is the fact that, in the social media, it’s Angelina who’s been getting the worst, most vituperative and vilest tirades from the meanest dissers, haters and trolls out there—by far!

While some have been admiring her for her rare combination of beauty, talent and purpose, others have apparently been hating and envying her for it!

The Pitts’ “pit stop” has lured them out of the woodwork, and now they’re doing their wormiest worst to malign her to perdition—and extinction.

Stellar shocker

The same thing has happened in the wake of the second stellar shocker for the month, Kim Kardashian’s traumatic encounter in Paris with five potentially murderous thieves.

Kim could have been killed in the encounter, but a disturbing number of dissers have been blaming her for “provoking” the crime! And, how is she culpable of her own near-demise?

Dissers gripe that she has made herself too famous and thus “attractive” to criminals, and her constant tweets, Instagram feeds and social media bulletins have handily informed malefactors about her whereabouts.

Thus, “reality TV” celebrities like Kim now find themselves caught between a rock and a hard place: They’ve become fabulously famous by going completely public and making themselves absolutely accessible to their gazillions of fans, but their safety and even their lives have been dangerously put at risk!
