The typical Filipino soap opera lasts for less than a year, but “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” has proved to be an exception, as it recently turned one year old.

At a press conference last Thursday, Sept. 29, the entire cast thanked its supporters for their support. “Teleserye” matriarch and Philippine movie queen Susan Roces expressed her gratitude to lead star Coco Martin, ABS-CBN and the loyal fans of her late husband and Philippine movie king Fernando Poe Jr.

Naging adhikain niya (FPJ, the initials of her husband’s name) ang ipakita that good triumphs over evil. At ang aming pasasalamat sa ABS-CBN at sa Dreamscape na isinabuhay nila ulit ang obra ni FPJ,” the movie queen said during the event marking the first year of the “telerserye.”

Because of its success, the show is extended for another 3 months, with the cast promising to act out only the most heart-stopping scenes that the viewers have continued to relish.

The entire cast of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” will have a thanksgiving concert on Oct. 8 at the Araneta Coliseum as a tribute to their loyal fans. Admission is free, but details of the concert have not been finalized yet. Clarizel Abanilla/rga
