“Diehard” fans of Aga Muhlach (they’re still around, ready and eager to support his long-awaited comeback) are pumped up to hear that their fave star will finally be seen again on the TV screen.

No, it won’t be in a regular teleserye—easy does it, hold your horses. It’ll be by way of his chores as juror and talent vetter on the new TV tilt, “Pinoy Boyband Superstar,” telecasting soonest.

The “easy does it” approach is the right way to go for now, because Aga is still in the process of dieting and fighting his way back to performing trim.

His Battle of the Bulge is more than halfway won, but he has to look stellarly right and bright before he goes back fully to romantic-lead mode.

His assignment as juror (along with Yeng Constantino, Sandara Park and Vice Ganda) in the boy band tilt is a good transition vehicle for him to “insinuate” himself into the viewing public’s consciousness.

Aga has been there, done that, not just as actor but also as a singer-dancer, so the tips he will give to the boy band tilt’s contestants should help them a lot in getting their individual and group performing acts together.

The fact that the competition is looking for new “boy banders” makes the tilt right up Aga’s alley. He got his teen start in show biz in 1984 by way of the “Bagets” film, a group talent showcase that featured a number of boy-next-door types (along with Herbert Bautista, William Martinez, J.C. Bonnin and Raymond Lauchengco).

It’s heartening to note that most of the film’s young discoveries are still biz players to this day, so the new boy band search’s winners should feel upbeat about their stellar prospects!

Not so incidentally, “Bagets” also helped launch the careers of some female comers, including Eula Valdez, Yayo Aguila and Jobelle Salvador. They also benefited from their “exposure” in the hit movie, which went on to spawn several sequels.
