Christian Bautista is very popular in Indonesia, but he prefers to stay in Manila. All the more now that he’s part of the fun “Smart Brokada,” along with Michael Pangilinan, Gretchen Ho and MJ Lastimosa. He was in Cebu recently to join Regine Velasquez in her miniconcert in lechon country.

What are the three things on your bucket list?
Go on a European tour, produce a full album and produce a movie.
Do you and your girlfriend, Kat Ramnani, have marriage plans already?
The topic comes up from time to time. It is always the goal of any relationship. For now, we are happy the way we are.
If you were allowed to sing only one song, what would it be?
“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
Any embarrassing moment onstage?
When my voice cracked on national TV, because I was so tired.
How are Indonesian and Filipino fans different?
Indonesians love to sing along a lot, while Filipinos love to listen more.
What do you wish you could be good at?
Playing the guitar.
What’s your take on lip-synching?
It’s acceptable when a singer isn’t feeling well or has a hoarse voice.
What’s the best part of being Christian Bautista?
I get to sing to people all over the world.
What’s the toughest part of being Christian Bautista?
Sometimes, the world can be a nasty place. It’s my job to keep on shining a light, to keep on singing that uplifting melody, and to never give up.
Pops’ new biz
Pops Fernandez is raring to launch her new biz next month. I am not yet at liberty to divulge the details.
Suffice it to say that it will reinvent the beautification process—or, as we say in local parlance, “Balik Alindog” Program.
Pops even went to South Korea with her business partner, Cora Rodrigo, to learn more about her latest endeavor.
She never gets tired of expanding her horizons. Not only does Pops bloom where she is planted, she branches out.

The possible project of a popular love team is quite mind-blowing. If plans materialize, it will be on an international level, and the tandem will become part of a bunch of characters, who are well-loved all over the world. The cute pair will be in good company.
