“Suicide Squad’s” “heroic villains” scored on local screens last week with a smash opening weekend gross of P161 million in four days. Its US total was $135 million, while it grossed $132 million internationally (in 57 territories).
Next step in human evolution
In “Morgan,” megged by Luke Scott, Anya Taylor-Joy plays a “bioengineered” being with synthetic DNA, who exceeds her creators’ wildest expectations. When she attacks one of her handlers, a corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) has to decide whether Morgan will continue to live or be instantly terminated.
‘Nine Lives’
Kevin Spacey’s new starrer, “Nine Lives,” has a provocative premise: He plays an obsessed real-estate mogul who suffers a “magical” accident that leaves him trapped in the body of a cat. He eventually realizes that he has to put his family first if he wants to regain his human form!

New Bradley Cooper starrer
Todd Phillips’ new comedic drama, “War Dogs,” topbills Bradley Cooper, Jonah Hill and Miles Teller.
Cooper plays an international arms dealer who’s on a terrorist watch list, but Hill and Teller’s characters are forced to deal with him because he has access to the huge amount of ammunition they need to clinch a deal worth $300 million!
Additional screenings
“I America” and “Kusina” will have additional screenings at the CCP Main Theater today, at 10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., respectively, as will “Mercury Is Mine” (3:30 p.m. at the Little Theater) and “Tuos” (3:30 p.m. at Huseng Batute) tomorrow.
Game-changing cinema technology
At Greenbelt 3, the game-changing cinema technology, 4DX theater at Cinema 4 is equipped with 144 “magical motion” seats, with special environment effects like shaker, water, fog and scents for “fully immersive” viewing.
In addition, Cinema 5 now has 92 fully motorized leather recliner seats.
Similarly innovative technology is also in place at some of UP Town Center’s theaters.
